Associate Attorney – Consumer Protection Litigation (Federal Court)
Mallon Consumer Law Group, PLLC is a small but growing consumer protection law firm dedicated to representing individuals harmed by unlawful credit reporting, identity theft, bank fraud, and unfair debt collection practices.
We are seeking a motivated attorney to work closely with the managing attorney on all aspects of federal consumer litigation. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants hands-on experience and meaningful responsibility in a plaintiff-side practice.
This position is full time in-person only and located in Oradell, New Jersey .
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Independently manage a caseload of consumer protection matters from intake through resolution
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, providing regular updates and responsive communication
- Handle all phases of litigation including pleadings, discovery, motions, depositions, and court appearances
- Conduct legal research and draft briefs, demand letters, and settlement agreements
- Evaluate potential new matters and assist with case intake
- Utilize AI tools and legal technology to improve efficiency and case outcomes
- Collaborate with firm attorneys and staff on strategy and case development
Requirements & Qualifications:
- Required:
- J.D. from an accredited law school
- Active bar admission in New York
- 0–5 years of civil litigation experience
- Strong client communication and relationship-building skills
- Ability to independently manage a high-volume caseload
- Comfort using AI tools (e.g., legal research AI, drafting assistants) or genuine eagerness to learn and adopt them — this is a must
Preferred:
- New Jersey bar admission (a significant plus)
- Experience in consumer protection litigation (FDCPA, FCRA, TCPA, UDAP, or similar)
- Plaintiff-side litigation background
- Federal court experience in SDNY, EDNY, or DNJ.
