What are the responsibilities and job description for the Kennel Technician position at Mallard Pointe Kennels?
Position Overview:
As a Kennel Technician, you’ll be hands-on in caring for the animals in our facility. From feeding and exercise to cleaning and monitoring, you’ll be an essential part of our daily operations. This is a physically active role that requires energy, reliability, and a passion for animals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide daily care for dogs, cats, and small animals
- Feed animals and provide fresh water
- Administer medications as directed
- Exercise dogs through walks and supervised playtime
- Clean and disinfect kennels, runs, and common areas
- Observe animals for signs of illness or distress and report concerns
- Perform other miscellaneous animal care duties as needed
Must-Haves:
- Positive attitude and willingness to work as part of a team
- Responsible, dependable, and self-motivated
- Reliable transportation to and from work
- Physical ability to handle dogs of all sizes, clean kennels, and be on your feet
- Willingness to work split shifts, weekends, and holidays (non-negotiable)
- Prior animal care experience is a plus, but not required

- This is a physically demanding job — you’ll be walking dogs, lifting, cleaning, and staying active
- We work split shifts to provide morning and evening care
- Weekends and holidays are part of our busiest times — your availability during these times is essential: We do the schedule a month at a time and try to alternate weekends and holidays based on staffing availability.
