What are the responsibilities and job description for the Information Systems Admin 1 position at Malheur County?
Provide personal computer and basic network administration support for County computer users in order to assist them in utilizing PC capabilities and basic LAN/WAN services through installation, customization, maintenance and repair of the hardware and software as well as providing technical support. Assist in maintaining, securing and updating all county servers. Duties are performed within established guidelines requiring judgement to determine appropriate procedures.
Hours worked are 40.0 a week. The Information Services office is open Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm and is closed at the noon hour for lunch. Some after hours and weekend work may be required depending on projects.
Work is performed under the general supervision of the Information Systems Director and Information Services Coordinator who assigns work orally or in writing. The employee uses initiative in completing duties and refers to the Director when encountering problems or difficult situations.

· Assist in maintaining incoming Help Desk requests.
· Responsible for patching servers and minor network reconfigurations such as access ports for employees or individual servers.
· Performs regularly scheduled security vulnerability scans on the County’s network.
· Ensures that technology documents/certificates are such as product registrations, SSL certificates, maintenance agreements, service contracts related to technology are evaluated, updated and processed as required.
· Performs minor scripting tasks.
· Ensures for the availability, continuity and security of data and information pertaining to the organization.
· Participates on committees, task forces, workgroups, etc. As directed, facilitates technology meetings and user groups.
· Access, monitor, audit, investigate and record employee activities with computers, internet and electronic mail for compliance with county policies, disciplinary actions and legal proceedings such as discovery and public records requests as directed to by the Information Systems Director.
· Maintains knowledge on current technology by reading technology periodicals, evaluating new technologies and attending trade-shows, technical seminars and training sessions.
· Assists in maintaining SQL databases and repositories.
· Project planning and implementation of special application servers.
· Exchange administration.
· Prepares reports for and attends workshops, seminars, conferences, meetings and trainings attended pertinent to the efficient dispatch of duties.
· Assists in other duties as needed and directed.
· After-hours and weekend work will be required.
· Regular physical attendance at the employer’s facility is required.
Minimum four years’ experience in networking and Microsoft server management; 3 years’ experience on prem server administration and on prem exchange administration required; bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field is preferred
OR a combination of education and equivalent experience which meets the necessary knowledge, abilities and skills required of the position.
· Must be able to pass criminal history and CJIS Security background checks.
· Must pass CJIS Security test within 2 weeks of hire.
· Must possess a valid drivers’ license with a good driving history. A safe and acceptable driving record per County policy must be maintained throughout course of employment.

Considerable knowledge o Windows 10, Windows 11, Server 2019, Server 2016, Server 2022, SQL, Cisco, networking DNS, DHCP, Exchange, Office 365, Office 2016 and 2019, active directory and site to site VPN; Linux, Unix, Android and Macintosh; equipment, technology, terminology, methods and procedures regarding information systems. Working knowledge of commonly used software; modern office practices and procedures.
Ability to: coordinate and implement Information Systems programs and services; develop and manage projects; set up and install new computers; solve hardware/software problems; guide and encourage computer system users and translate technical instructions into understandable language; and maintain cooperative work relationships with superiors, peers, subordinates, contractors; learn, interpret and implement system requirements; effectively plan, organize and prioritize work schedule and duties; set self-enforced goals and achieve them; work independently without constant supervision.
Skill in: analyzing, diagnosing and solving information system problems; configuring and assembling computer hardware and communication equipment and the installation of software.
Worked is performed in and around all Malheur County offices in Vale and Ontario. Employee will be required to bend, kneel, climb, move and lift up to 100 pounds, push, reach, stand, walk and sit for long periods of time. Job Overview:
