Defensive Back Varsity Coach

Defensive Back Varsity Coach Malden Catholic High School is seeking a dedicated Defensive Back Varsity Coach to join our football coaching staff. The ideal candidate will have prior playing and/or coaching experience, possess strong character, leadership, and teaching skills to help mentor the young men of Malden Catholic football. The assistant coach will be responsible for developing the student-athlete’s skills, footwork, technique, and knowledge of our playbook and scheme to ensure they contribute effectively to MC Football's success on the field. Key Responsibilities: ●Develop and implement practice plans for individual and team periods that are relevant to the team's overall scheme and game plan. ●Institute relevant drills for the offense's scheme and/or opponent to prepare players for gameday. ●Assist with gameday responsibilities such as enforcing sideline conduct, substitutions, and identifying defensive shifts. ●Promote a positive culture that aligns with MC's Xaverian Brothers values to encourage sportsmanship, growth, brotherhood, and accountability. ●Collaborate with the Head Coach to institute an effective game plan and scheme. ●Teach, demonstrate, and communicate safe techniques and adhere to health and safety guidelines to ensure player safety in practices and games. ●Assist with game planning, including scouting opponent's defensive scheme, particularly their defensive front, and pressures. ●Participate in off-season training and conditioning programs to enhance player development. ●Communicate clearly with players and other coaches to create a supportive team environment. Ensure that player and team expectations are clear and offer constructive criticism when appropriate. ●Analyze game/practice films to identify areas for improvement or changes to the game plan and scheme. ●Obtain and keep current, all required coaching eligibility requirements. ●Successfully complete employment paperwork and CORI background checks. ●Emphasize discipline, teamwork, conduct, and communication among student-athletes and offer guidance when needed.
