MIDA Chicago serves as Malaysia’s investment hub for the U.S. Midwest and selected Southern states, engaging companies from Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio, Tennessee, Wisconsin, Nebraska, South Dakota, North Dakota, Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Texas, and New Mexico. Based in downtown Chicago, you will be at the heart of conversations with Fortune 500s, fast-growing mid-sized firms, and innovators exploring Malaysia as their strategic gateway to ASEAN.
Duties
- To create lead and support targeted promotional initiatives (seminars, briefings, trade and investment missions) that position Malaysia as a premier investment destination for U.S. companies.
- To serve as a key contact point for investors by providing clear, accurate, and timely guidance on Malaysia’s investment policies, incentives, regulations, and operating environment.
- To produce insightful market situational / special report and sector reports on economic/ investment and commercial trade in our areas of coverage, helping shape MIDA’s strategies and outreach.
- To build and deepen relationships with C-suite executives, business communities, chambers of commerce, industry associations, and relevant federal/state agencies.
- To develop, manage, and regularly update a structured database/CRM of leads, prospects, and strategic partners to support focused, high-impact engagement.
- To represent MIDA at meetings, events, and conferences, including delivering presentations and participating in discussions on Malaysia’s value proposition and opportunities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Economics, Business, Management, International Relations, or a related discipline.
- 2–5 years of experience in areas such as marketing/business development, corporate businesses, international business, investment promotion, consulting, research/analysis, or economic and investment development.
- Strong interest in international trade, investment, and economic trends; exposure to ASEAN or Asian markets is an advantage.
- Proven promotional and networking skills, with confidence engaging senior corporate and institutional stakeholders.
- Excellent written and spoken English, with strong presentation, communication, and report-writing abilities.
- Proficiency with standard office software and digital tools; experience with databases/CRM systems and online outreach platforms is a plus.
- Independent, resourceful, and self-driven, with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to thrive in a small, mission-focused team.
Pay: $77,772.00 - $114,252.00 per year
