What are the responsibilities and job description for the Educational Assistant - Elementary grade level position at Malaika Early Learning Center?
Teachers at Malaika Early Learning Center are held to the highest standards and are required to maintain a safe and healthy learning environment for students, while facilitating developmentally appropriate curriculum to promote optimal physical and intellectual growth of young children.
Duties
The role of an educational assistant includes but is not limited to the following:
- Assisting classroom teacher with implementation of instruction.
- Assisting classroom teacher with promoting positive behaviors.
- Ability to be culturally sensitive to the needs of all students.
- Maintain confidentiality at all times.
- Provide physical safety and well-being of students, specifically while on school grounds, and in some circumstances off campus (field trips etc.).
- Assist with individual student academic progress through regular and varied instruction and assessments.
- Ability to use technology and implement it in the classroom.
- Assist with Parent-Teacher Conferences.
- Maintain frequent communication with parents (via phone, face-to-face, notes etc.).
- Attend school activities/events.
- Serve on event committees.
- Participate in professional development trainings.
- Comply with requirements related to partnerships.
- Assist with recruitment efforts as requested.
- Other duties as directed by the Site Director.
Requirements
- At least one year of teaching experience in an urban setting
- Minimum of High School Diploma/GED (Associate or Bachelor's Degree preferred)
- Knowledge of educational curriculum and national standards for early education
- Knowledge of Wisconsin Model Early Learning Standards
- Knowledge of National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) standards
