What are the responsibilities and job description for the Operator II (Wastewater/Water) position at Malaga County Water District?

THE POSITION
The Operator II position works under the supervision of the Chief Plant Operator, primarily at the Districts wastewater treatment facility (WWTF) and the Water Department Manager, primarily at well sites.
Sewer Department duties include but are not limited to: monitoring wastewater treatment operations and equipment, performing required sampling and lab work, operating and maintaining WWTF equipment, performing mathematical calculations as required by assigned duties, maintaining records, preparing reports, and performing inspections of facilities and equipment at the WWTF. Other duties include, conducting maintenance on the District’s sewer collection system and having a general understanding of the Districts pretreatment operations.
Water Department Duties include but are not limited to: water distribution system maintenance, water quality testing, water system monitoring, well maintenance, and water treatment, as necessary.
The position also requires Operator II to work some weekends and be on-call on a rotational basis.

THE REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must meet the following minimum qualifications in order to be eligible for the position:
High School Diploma or GED completion and hold a valid Wastewater Treatment Operator Certificate, Grade 2, issued by the California State Resources Control Board; and have at least two (2) years of full-time work experience working at a WWTF. Additionally, the Operator II position also requires a water distribution (D1) and water treatment (T1) certificate issued by the California State Resources Control Board. The Operator must be able to work independently and supervise other operators as assigned.
Applicants must attach/submit a copy of their valid Grade II wastewater certificate and water (D1) and (T1) certificates with their application.
Possession and continued maintenance of a valid Class “C” California Driver’s License. Candidates considered for hire must provide proof of a valid driver’s license and current copy of their driving record.
The Operator II position is considered a safety sensitive position under the District Substance Abuse Policy and as such, the Operator II position is subject to pre-employment drug screening, and other drug testing requirements under the District Substance Abuse Policy.
