MalaceHR is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Design Engineer to support commercial building projects across multiple markets. This remote role is responsible for leading electrical system design, ensuring code compliance, managing project deliverables, and mentoring junior engineers. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise, leadership capability, and a commitment to delivering high-quality, constructible designs on schedule and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
Perform electrical engineering calculations including:
Wire and conduit sizing
Panel and breaker sizing
Fault current calculations
Load and short circuit analysis
Lighting fixture specifications and photometric design
Develop detailed electrical designs for commercial building projects.
Create and maintain drawing packages using Revit and AutoCAD.
Participate in conceptual design and early-stage project planning.
Ensure all design documents are constructible, code-compliant, and meet client quality standards.
Maintain responsible control over design activities, including engineering integrity, quality control, and regulatory compliance.
Prepare project budgets, schedules, and resource plans; communicate requirements to leadership.
Manage, assign, and prioritize workloads for junior engineers and provide technical mentorship.
Represent MalaceHR in project meetings with clients, utilities, contractors, subcontractors, and inspectors to address technical matters.
Conduct site inspections as needed to verify compliance with construction documents and resolve design-related issues during construction.
Ensure all work is delivered accurately, efficiently, and in alignment with project timelines and industry best practices.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (other engineering or construction-related disciplines considered based on experience).
10 years of relevant electrical design engineering experience.
Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD.
Strong knowledge of electrical system design for commercial facilities.
Advanced analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Excellent technical writing and documentation abilities.
Strong leadership skills with experience managing or mentoring engineering staff preferred.
High proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
- Professional Engineering (PE) license preferred but not required.
