Mako Industries is hiring a QA/QC candidate that will be responsible for overseeing, implementing, and maintaining the Quality Assurance and Quality Control program for commercial construction projects. This role ensures that all work meets or exceeds contract specifications, building codes, industry standards, and company quality objectives. The QA/QC candidate will coordinate inspections, documentation, testing, and compliance for all trades from preconstruction through project closeout.
Quality Assurance
Develop, implement, and maintain the project-specific QA/QC plan.
Review project drawings, specifications, and submittals for accuracy and constructability.
Conduct preconstruction and pre-activity quality meetings with project teams and subcontractors.
Verify all materials and equipment meet project requirements and approved submittals.
Assist in developing inspection and test plans (ITPs) for each phase of construction.
Quality Control
Perform daily field inspections to ensure work complies with drawings, specifications, and applicable codes.
Document all inspections, tests, and quality observations through daily reports and logs.
Coordinate with third-party inspectors for special inspections (e.g., concrete, structural steel, fireproofing).
Ensure MEP, structural, architectural, and sitework trades follow QC requirements.
Identify non-conforming work and issue Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs); track rework until resolved.
Verify corrective actions and maintain accurate QC records.
Testing & Inspection
Oversee required material tests (concrete, soils, welds, insulation, leak tests, electrical testing, etc.).
Ensure proper calibration and certification of testing equipment.
Review test reports and verify compliance with specifications.
Maintain records of all special inspections required by local building codes.
Documentation & Reporting
Maintain QA/QC logs, NCR logs, and inspection records.
Manage and update punch lists in coordination with the project team.
Prepare quality status reports for project meetings.
Ensure all documentation meets company and project closeout requirements.
Coordination & Communication
Work alongside the Project Manager, Superintendent, and subcontractors to resolve quality issues.
Participate in owner/architect/engineer meetings regarding quality items.
Support commissioning activities and ensure necessary testing is completed.
Communicate quality expectations clearly to subcontractors and field staff.
Safety & Compliance
Promote and enforce quality-related safety standards.
Ensure all work is compliant with local, state, and national codes (IBC, NEC, IMC, IPC, etc.).
Stay up-to-date on industry standards and best practices.
Education
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (preferred).
Equivalent field experience may be accepted.
Experience
3–10 years of quality control or construction field experience (commercial construction preferred).
Experience with MEP, structural, and architectural systems.
Familiarity with IBC, NEC, IMC, IPC, NFPA, and local building codes.
Skills
Strong understanding of construction processes and trades.
Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
Proficient with QA/QC software (Bluebeam, Procore, PlanGrid, BIM software).
Exceptional organization and documentation abilities.
Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently in fast-paced environments.
