Mechanical Laborer (Shipyard) - MS Project

Mako Industries is hiring Mechanical Laborers that will be responsible for supporting mechanical operations within a shipyard environment. This role involves assisting with the installation, removal, and maintenance of mechanical equipment such as valves, pumps, and associated systems. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, dependable, and capable of working in physically demanding conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with the installation, removal, and positioning of valves, pumps, and related mechanical equipment
• Perform valve operations including opening, closing, and turning as directed
• Support mechanical crews with disassembly and reassembly of equipment
• Handle material movement, rigging assistance, and tool staging as needed
• Maintain clean and organized work areas in accordance with shipyard standards
• Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of PPE
• Take direction from supervisors, foremen, and lead mechanics
• Assist with inspections and basic maintenance tasks

Qualifications:

• Previous shipyard, industrial, or mechanical experience preferred but not required
• Basic knowledge of hand tools and power tools
• Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team
• Strong work ethic and reliability

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs
• Capable of standing, bending, kneeling, and climbing for extended periods (10–12 hour shifts)
• Comfortable working in confined spaces, at heights, and in varying weather conditions
• Ability to work in a high-noise, industrial environment

Work Environment:

• Shipyard setting with exposure to outdoor elements
• May require working aboard vessels, in tight spaces, or at elevated heights
• Must adhere to all safety and environmental regulations
