Mako Industries is hiring Mechanical Laborers that will be responsible for supporting mechanical operations within a shipyard environment. This role involves assisting with the installation, removal, and maintenance of mechanical equipment such as valves, pumps, and associated systems. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, dependable, and capable of working in physically demanding conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with the installation, removal, and positioning of valves, pumps, and related mechanical equipment
- Perform valve operations including opening, closing, and turning as directed
- Support mechanical crews with disassembly and reassembly of equipment
- Handle material movement, rigging assistance, and tool staging as needed
- Maintain clean and organized work areas in accordance with shipyard standards
- Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of PPE
- Take direction from supervisors, foremen, and lead mechanics
- Assist with inspections and basic maintenance tasks
Qualifications:
- Previous shipyard, industrial, or mechanical experience preferred but not required
- Basic knowledge of hand tools and power tools
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team
- Strong work ethic and reliability
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs
- Capable of standing, bending, kneeling, and climbing for extended periods (10–12 hour shifts)
- Comfortable working in confined spaces, at heights, and in varying weather conditions
- Ability to work in a high-noise, industrial environment
Work Environment:
- Shipyard setting with exposure to outdoor elements
- May require working aboard vessels, in tight spaces, or at elevated heights
- Must adhere to all safety and environmental regulations
