Makin’ It Happen Coalition for Resilient Youth, Inc. (MIH), is committed to the development of our three focus areas – Recovery Ready Communities (RR), Resiliency Essentials (RE), and Community Impact in the 603 (CI603). The Youth Wellness and Prevention (YWP) initiatives are part of the CI603. Responsibilities include ensuring Makin’ It Happen’s mission, vision, and values are consistently considered and infused in our efforts for our focus areas throughout the Greater Manchester region. The Greater Manchester region includes the following types of communities: urban: Manchester, suburban: Bedford, Goffstown and Hooksett, and rural: Auburn, Candia, Deerfield and New Boston. Efforts should be designed to engage, educate, and empower the development of healthy, thriving youth, families, and communities.


About The Recovery Ready Communities Focus Area:


The Recovery Ready Communities focus area works to build and enhance substance use prevention in the Greater Manchester region by breaking down the silos in prevention, treatment, and recovery. We are engaging our community in discussions about the unique struggles different addictions pose, educating people and organizations on what recovery may look like, and empowering individuals in recovery to share their stories. Recovery is about more than just drugs and alcohol – it can also mean recovering from homelessness, an eating disorder, and dating violence as well as unhealthy behavioral addictions like gambling, shopping, and internet habits. Key tasks include creating and disseminating substance use prevention materials throughout the region, providing substance use prevention training and technical assistance to local organizations and the larger community, and collaborating with local organizations to increase awareness, knowledge, and skills on substance use disorders, treatment, recovery, and other related health and wellness issues.


Recovery Ready Communities Coordinator General Responsibilities:


• Work with the Recovery Ready Communities Director (RRD) on the development and management of the Recovery Ready Communities Collaborative (RRCC), including the recording of monthly meeting minutes, creating and disseminating collaborative-related emails, and assisting in the development of the RRCC strategic plan.

• Become an Anti-Stigma Instructor and assist the RRD with providing community-level substance use prevention trainings and developing a strategy to expand training opportunities/awareness.

• Assist the RRD with the development of the RR focus area, including expanding outreach and awareness of prevention and recovery-based initiatives available to the Greater Manchester region. 

• Work in collaboration with the Greater Manchester Regional Public Health Network (GM-RPHN) partners to identify subject matter experts from the core elements of our continuum of care – behavioral and physical health, prevention, intervention, treatment, and recovery – to inform our presentations, training, and awareness efforts.

• Assist with planning, scheduling, tracking, outreach, and delivery of Project Upstream activities and events. Project Upstream is a prevention and awareness initiative primarily focused on the suburban and rural communities within the Greater Manchester region. 

• Contribute to the development and maintaining of a robust RR partners list through exploring opportunities to engage in outreach, community collaboration, and community events.

• Assist with other RR initiatives and events as assigned.

• Attend community, regional, and state level meetings as identified to inform/support the RR focus area.

• Work with the Marketing and Communications Lead (MCL) with communication (social media, flyer creation, podcast development, and blog development) as needed/assigned.

• Assist with Makin’ It Happen events as needed/assigned.

• Support grant objective elements and requirements as needed/assigned.

• Perform other tasks as assigned, including assisting other focus areas with initiatives as needed.

Essential Knowledge and Skills:


• Knowledge of substance misuse, treatment, and recovery services

• Previous experience working with individuals with substance use disorder (SUD) or in recovery from SUD.

• Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills

• Experience facilitating meetings and trainings with youth, young adults, and adults

• Comfortable working with special populations such as individuals in recovery, individuals with SUD, at-risk youth, incarcerated individuals, and related 

• Community event experience

• Strong organizational skills, accuracy, and detail-oriented

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Canva, Adobe, Constant Contact and Zoom

• Demonstrated experience working both independently and as part of a team

• Open to learning new skills and training


Qualifications:


• Bachelor’s degree in social work, community development/organizing, public health, education or related field OR

Associate degree in any of above with 2 or more years of job experience OR 

3-4 years of positive employment in a nonprofit or school-based setting.

• Working knowledge of a variety of addiction recovery modalities and the ability to articulate the multiple pathways of recovery

• You have experience with substance use disorder – either you have been personally impacted by it, or have worked in the field of prevention/treatment/recovery

• Social, public health, nonprofit, prevention-based work experience

• Prevention/coalition experience

• Certified Prevention Specialist, or willing to work towards certification within 1 year of employment

• Bi-lingual skills a plus

• Current driver’s license/own transportation

• Background checks are required


Position Details:


• On-boarding process (throughout the first month), 60-day new hire period

• Performance review will be scheduled annually (based on start date)

• Health care benefits are the responsibility of the employee


Benefits:


• This is a full-time, grant-supported, salary-based position. Our flex work model includes a mix of in office, in-region (Greater Manchester), and in-state (Concord) meetings as well as a remote working environment. May require some evening or weekend hours. 

• Two weeks paid vacation, available to schedule after 60-day new hire period successfully completed 

• Robust holiday (paid) schedule

• Laptop/printer and supplies provided (full time)

This position is grant supported and is subject to change (with written notice) based on grant changes and funding availability. Position is currently fully funded through 06.30.27
