What are the responsibilities and job description for the Platform Specialist position at MakersHub?
About us:
A lot of businesses receive invoices packed with important details about what they are buying, where costs belong, and what needs to be approved or paid. The problem is getting that information out of invoices is still incredibly manual for many teams. Someone either spends hours keying in the details, or the information does not get tracked at all.
MakersHub helps solve that. Our platform uses in-house OCR and automation tools to capture invoice and receipt details, including line items, so teams can review bills, code them to the right place, route them for approval, process payments, sync to their accounting system, and keep a clear audit record. MakersHub is a young start-up with a strong product loved by customers and ready to grow. We are building a team that wants to help companies save time on Accounts Payable so that they can spend more time running their businesses.
The Role:
MakersHub is looking for a thoughtful, detail-oriented, and customer-focused Platform Specialist to join our growing team in Austin.
As a Platform Specialist, you will help customers transform their AP process and save hours of manual work each week. You’ll own the onboarding experience from discovery through go live, working directly with finance teams to understand how they operate today, identify bottlenecks, configure workflows, map data, build approval structures, and guide them through a successful launch on MakersHub.
This role sits at the intersection of customers, product, and operations. You’ll see firsthand where customers struggle, what creates the most value, and where the platform can continue to improve. Your feedback will directly help shape how we improve the customer experience and scale our onboarding process.
This is a great role for someone early in their career who is eager to learn, comfortable working with customers, and excited to solve operational problems while building experience across implementation, operations, and product.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own the end-to-end customer experience from onboarding through implementation, go live, and ongoing support.
- Manage multiple implementations simultaneously. Lead calls and customer training sessions so they feel confident using MakersHub in their day-to-day work and get maximum value out of the platform.
- Build deep expertise in MakersHub and our customers’ ERP systems. Understand each customer’s workflows and painpoints, then configure MakersHub to meet their needs.
- Identify opportunities to improve onboarding materials, internal playbooks, and repeatable implementation processes as we scale.
- Capture recurring friction points and collaborate with our product team to drive meaningful improvements to the platform.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Eager to make an impact, take ownership, and help improve the customer experience
- 1 years of experience in consulting, Accounts Payable, ERP/accounting systems, or client-facing finance operations
- Familiarity with accounting or finance workflows (especially AP) and tools like NetSuite, Sage Intacct, QuickBooks, or Xero
- Confident configuring systems and translating business processes into structured, scalable solutions
- Able to work confidently with spreadsheets, customer data, and system exports
- Consultative and composed communicator who can guide non-technical users through change
- Comfortable balancing multiple onboarding threads and keeping work highly organized
- Eager to own outcomes, flag what’s not working, and collaborate to improve internal processes
