The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Engineering Manager to help lead the day-to-day operation of our Engineering department. This individual will combine strong technical expertise with exceptional leadership, organization, and a hospitality mindset. The Engineering Manager will support the maintenance, repair, safety, and overall condition of the hotel while developing a responsive, knowledgeable, and service-focused engineering team.
What You'll Do
- Support the daily operation and leadership of the hotel's Engineering department.
- Lead, coach, train, and develop Engineering team members while creating a positive, accountable, and team-oriented work environment.
- Assign and prioritize daily work orders, preventive maintenance, guest requests, projects, and repairs.
- Maintain hotel systems and equipment, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, mechanical systems, kitchen equipment, lighting, and general building maintenance.
- Troubleshoot equipment failures and operational issues and ensure repairs are completed safely, efficiently, and to hotel standards.
- Maintain an effective preventive maintenance program for guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house spaces, and mechanical equipment.
- Respond promptly and professionally to guest-related maintenance concerns, partnering with operational leaders to minimize disruption to the guest experience.
- Conduct routine inspections of the property to identify maintenance needs, safety concerns, and opportunities to improve the appearance and functionality of the hotel.
- Assist with scheduling, productivity, labor management, inventory, purchasing, and appropriate use of departmental resources.
- Maintain appropriate inventory of tools, equipment, parts, and supplies.
- Coordinate with outside vendors and contractors as needed and ensure work is completed according to property expectations.
- Support compliance with all applicable OSHA, fire/life safety, building, environmental, and company safety requirements.
- Maintain accurate documentation related to inspections, preventive maintenance, work orders, equipment, and required certifications.
- Partner closely with Housekeeping, Front Office, Food & Beverage, Security, Spa, and other departments to support hotel operations.
- Participate in emergency response and assist with urgent property needs when necessary.
- Support hotel sustainability and energy-conservation initiatives while maintaining guest comfort and operational standards.
- Assist Engineering leadership with capital projects, renovations, equipment replacement, and other property improvement initiatives.
- Serve as a leader who demonstrates professionalism, accountability, teamwork, and a willingness to be hands-on when the operation requires it.
What We're Looking For
- Minimum of 3–5 years of progressive engineering or facilities maintenance experience in a hotel, resort, healthcare, commercial, or luxury hospitality environment.
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience within an Engineering or Maintenance department.
- Strong working knowledge of:
- Commercial HVAC systems
- Refrigeration systems
- Electrical systems
- Plumbing
- Boilers and hot water systems
- Kitchen equipment
- Building automation systems (BAS)
- Preventive maintenance programs
- Strong troubleshooting, organizational, and project management skills.
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
- Ability to prioritize multiple projects while maintaining exceptional guest service standards.
- Ability to respond to after-hours emergencies and participate in an on-call rotation.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe, efficient, and guest-focused operation.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
- EPA Universal Refrigerant Certification I & II required.
- HVAC Certification required.
- Commercial Refrigeration Certification required.
- Experience in a Forbes-rated, AAA Four Diamond/Five Diamond, or Marriott Luxury Collection hotel preferred.
- Experience using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS, Transcendent).
- Knowledge of energy management and sustainability initiatives is a plus.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, climb stairs, kneel, bend, crawl, and work in mechanical spaces throughout the property.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to safely operate maintenance equipment, ladders, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
- Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in varying environmental conditions.
- Ability to use computers, tablets, and maintenance management software.
