Makena is seeking a Pool Technician to join the RS Facilities Department. The Pool Technician will perform all work on pools that require a special skill including proper maintenance and cleaning, to provide the best experience to our Members and their Guests. We will train you! Key Responsibilities Daily cleaning and maintenance of pools including but not limited to skimming the surface, tile cleaning, brushing, vacuuming, and chemical balancing. Monitor, notate and adjust pool chemistry as necessary. Start up, operate, and maintain pool pumps and filter systems. Repair, when necessary, anything pool related or contract the right individual to do so. Become thoroughly familiar with all phases of operation and maintenance necessary to operate and repair all pools and ponds equipment including but not limited to all pumps, motors, filters, heaters, chemical feeders, etc. Ensure that the pool and equipment meets all safety requirements, be aware of any updates and bring them to management’s attention. Perform all repairs, maintenance and replacement of parts for preventive maintenance schedule and accurately and neatly record all pertinent data. Continually assess the preventive maintenance schedule to ensure that equipment longevity, avoidance of repairs and down time, ease of operation and efficiency are all being maximized pursuant to manufacturing recommendations. Maintain tools and maintenance equipment properly. Update records of repairs and tasks performed. Advise Manager of conditions which may affect the operation of the pool. Other duties as assigned. Prior experience and proven success in luxury pool maintenance is required. Nationally certified as a Pool Operator. Must have knowledge and experience with pumps, cycles of concentration, chemical testing and readings, chemical controllers, AC or DC motors & controls, filtration systems, proper backwashing, safety procedures in handling hazardous chemicals, knowledge of proper personal protective equipment (PPE) Knowledge of troubleshooting skills - electrical, mechanical, and plumbing, and operate and maintain gas fired pool heaters. Positive attitude, professional demeanor, and exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to deliver service to members, guests and team members Ability to work in a team environment Ability to stay calm and focused during the busiest of times Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays and a shift greater than eight (8) hours in length Ability to read, write, speak and understand English; additional languages preferred Ability to meet the physical demands of the position including, but not limited to, working indoors and outdoors, standing, walking, and moving for periods of greater than four (4) hours, and lifting, carrying, bending, stooping, squatting, reaching, pushing and pulling Benefits $27/hr.
