Position Summary

We are seeking an energetic and motivated Event and Fundraising Specialist to lead and support key fundraising events. In this role, you will manage at least two of our signature events, Walk For Wishes and Trailblaze Challenge, while also supporting other statewide fundraising initiatives. You’ll drive revenue growth through participant recruitment, peer-to-peer fundraising coaching, sponsorship acquisition, and exceptional event execution.

This role requires frequent phone and personal outreach, strong relationship-building skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, mission-focused environment. Some statewide travel is required, particularly during event season.

Key Responsibilities

  • Event Leadership: Plan and execute all logistics for Walk For Wishes, Trailblaze Challenge, and other signature events.
  • Participant Recruitment: Engage individuals and teams through presentations, networking, and outreach. Provide coaching and support to help participants succeed in peer-to-peer fundraising.
  • Fundraising Growth: Secure and steward sponsorships ranging from $2,500–$50,000, meeting with prospects monthly.
  • Relationship Building: Deliver world-class customer service to participants, sponsors, donors, and volunteers.
  • Committee & Volunteer Management: Recruit, train, and support event committees and volunteers.
  • Revenue Responsibility: Achieve annual fundraising and sponsorship goals of $850,000–$1,000,000.
  • Budget & Evaluation: Manage event budgets, track progress, and conduct post-event evaluations.
  • Collaboration: Partner with the development team on recruitment strategies, sponsor engagement, and statewide outreach.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required (marketing, nonprofit management, or related field preferred).
  • Minimum 3 years of nonprofit fundraising experience, preferably with peer-to-peer events.
  • Proven sales and sponsorship experience.
  • Fitness/endurance event planning and execution experience strongly preferred.
  • Volunteer and committee management experience.
  • Strong communication skills—written, oral, and interpersonal.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities under deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; Salesforce experience preferred.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
