What are the responsibilities and job description for the Optician/Optical Sales Associate position at Makana Vision?
Makana Vision is a locally owned optometry practice in Kaimuki looking for a friendly, dependable, and motivated Optician to join our team.
Optical experience is a plus, but we are willing to train the right person. We are especially interested in someone who enjoys working with people, learns quickly, is comfortable with sales, and takes pride in providing excellent service.
What You’ll Do
As an Optician, you’ll help guide patients through the eyewear experience from frame selection through their finished glasses.
Responsibilities include:
- Help patients select frames that fit their style, needs, and budget
- Educate patients on lens options and make appropriate recommendations
- Explain vision insurance benefits and out-of-pocket costs
- Take accurate optical measurements
- Enter and process glasses and contact lens orders
- Dispense, adjust, and troubleshoot eyewear
- Assist with frame inventory, displays, and keeping the optical area organized
- Follow up on outstanding orders and help ensure patients receive their eyewear on time
- Assist with patient check-in, scheduling, phones, and other office tasks as needed
- Work closely with the doctor and team to keep patient flow running smoothly

Previous optical experience is preferred but not required. Experience in retail sales, hospitality, customer service, healthcare, or another customer-facing environment may translate well to this position.
