What are the responsibilities and job description for the Vice President of General Contracting position at MAK Construction LLC?
MAK Companies is hiring a Vice President to lead our General Contracting division — and we need a driver, not a caretaker.
This role exists because GC needs a defined leader. Job closeouts, backlog discipline, and team accountability are on you. If you're the kind of leader who treats an open item as something to close today, not this quarter, keep reading.
What you'll own:
- Full P&L for the GC division — revenue, margin, job costing, overhead-to-backlog
- Closeout from substantial completion to final retainage release — punch lists, lien waivers, warranties, final billing — on every job, on a hard timeline
- Building a real GC org structure — PMs, superintendents, field staff — with clear accountability at every level
- L10-style meetings, scorecards, and a team that solves problems instead of just discussing them
What we need from you:
- 10 years in commercial general contracting, 5 in a senior leadership role
- A track record of clean, on-time closeouts across multiple simultaneous projects
- Financial fluency — job costing, P&L ownership, backlog planning
- EOS/L10 experience is a strong plus
- Direct communication style, no corporate filler, comfortable with hard feedback
First-year success: every job has a closeout date and owner, a functioning org chart is in place, backlog is sized against overhead, and the division runs with visible urgency.
This is a real leadership seat at a growing, multi-division construction company — with a genuine path to shape and own the division.
