Position Summary
MajorKey Technologies is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Entry-Level Staff Accountant to join our Finance team. This is a great opportunity for someone early in their accounting career who is eager to learn, take ownership, and gain hands-on experience across multiple areas of accounting.
The Staff Accountant will support Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), purchase orders (POs), reconciliations, sales tax, and month-end close. We are also looking for someone who is comfortable leveraging AI and technology to improve efficiency and streamline accounting processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Support day-to-day Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable activities.
- Process vendor invoices, payments, and employee expenses.
- Prepare customer invoices and assist with collections and cash application.
- Create, track, and reconcile purchase orders (POs).
- Assist with bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Prepare basic journal entries and supporting documentation.
- Assist the Finance team with month-end and year-end close activities.
- Help maintain accurate general ledger records and research discrepancies.
- Assist with sales tax compliance and reporting using Avalara.
- Maintain organized documentation for audits and financial reviews.
- Work with internal departments to resolve billing, invoice, and PO questions.
- Leverage AI tools and automation to improve accounting processes, reporting, reconciliations, and overall efficiency.
- Assist with ad hoc Finance and Accounting projects as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
- 0–2 years of accounting experience; recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
- Basic understanding of accounting principles, including AP, AR, and general ledger accounting.
- Strong Excel skills and willingness to learn new financial systems.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Comfortable working with technology and utilizing AI tools to increase productivity and improve processes.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Self-motivated with a willingness to learn and take on new responsibilities.
Preferred / Nice to Have
- Experience or familiarity with Avalara for sales tax compliance.
- Experience with Certinia (FinancialForce) is a strong plus.
- Previous internship or entry-level experience in Accounting or Finance.
- Exposure to ERP, accounting, billing, or expense-management systems.
