Major, Lindsey & Africa’s Interim Legal Talent group has an immediate need for a fulltime Interim Intellectual Property Counsel (100% Remote, National)
Overview: The Interim Intellectual Property Counsel will support our client’s efforts to protect and advance its intellectual property assets, including trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, and branding elements. You will provide counsel on IP and regulatory issues related to marketing campaigns, advertising, development and promotional activities, ensuring legal compliance and safeguarding our client’s reputation. Additionally, you will assist in reviewing associated transactions such as licensing, collaborations, partnerships, sponsorships, and other agreements involving IP assets.
This position will report to the Deputy General Counsel.
Company: Large, National Non-Profit
Experience: 3-5 years of relevant experience in intellectual property law, with a focus on trademarks, copyrights, marketing, and related transactional review.
Location: 100% Remote, Must work 9am-5pm Eastern Standard Time
Responsibilities Include:
- Assist in the legal aspects of management and enforcement of our client’s portfolio, including trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets. Collaborate with internal teams to identify potential IP assets and advise on their use, registration, and protection in marketing and branding initiatives. (20%)
- Review and advise on marketing and advertising content to ensure IP and regulatory compliance, brand integrity, and to prevent infringement issues. (10%)
- Conduct clearance searches and analyses for marketing materials, campaigns, and new branding initiatives. (10%)
- Support the review of associated transactions, including drafting and negotiating licensing agreements, collaborations, and other contracts involving IP rights or related to marketing and promotional activities. (10%)
- Collaborate with internal teams to develop and implement policies and procedures for IP management within the organization, with a focus on marketing, branding, and reputation protection. (10%)
- Provide legal guidance to marketing, communications, and program teams on IP best practices, brand development, and risk mitigation strategies. (10%)
- Support efforts to strengthen and grow our client’s brand through strategic IP protection and enforcement. (5%)
- Stay informed about developments in IP law, advertising regulations, and branding trends relevant to nonprofit organizations and healthcare messaging. (5%)
- Provide general legal support and perform additional tasks as requested to support the Legal Department’s needs. (20%)
Qualifications Include:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school; admission to any U.S. state bar required.
- 3-5 years of relevant experience in intellectual property law, with a focus on trademarks, copyrights, marketing, and related transactional review.
- Strong understanding of IP law, advertising law, and legal considerations in marketing campaigns.
- Experience reviewing and advising on marketing materials, advertisements, branding efforts, and associated transactions.
- Excellent research, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
$90 per hour
