What are the responsibilities and job description for the Club Content Creator (Freelance) position at Major League Baseball (MLB)?
Major League Baseball’s Club Content Creator (Freelance) is responsible for producing original content in video and written form from a fan-first perspective for the Pittsburgh Pirates. We seek someone with a demonstrated passion for the Pirates, who can speak to the team’s audience from a fan’s perspective, regularly creating video and written content that will resonate with the hardcore fan, the casual fan, and everyone in between.
We want someone who lives and dies with the club, who is excited to produce content for an audience that shares their love of the Pirates.

The Day Rate associated with this work will be commensurate with the skills and experience required to perform the tasks.

We want someone who lives and dies with the club, who is excited to produce content for an audience that shares their love of the Pirates.
Responsibilities
- Daily video and written content that touches on whatever topic is resonating with the fanbase that day
- Able to create a wide variety of content, ranging from news and analysis to whimsy, adjusting tone based on circumstances
- Communicate proactively with the club’s PR staff to provide coverage of club initiatives and handle all team announcements
- Attending most home games to assist with player storytelling and game coverage
- Ability to appear in, edit, and produce video content for site, app, and social media.
- An active presence on Instagram, TikTok, Reddit, X, and other social media platforms.
- Ability to write opinion and news articles as warranted.
- A built-in following among the fanbase, either from social media, YouTube, or previous coverage of the team, also a plus.
- Thorough knowledge of the history of the Pirates and an understanding of what makes their fanbase tick.
- High degree of accuracy.
- Experience with content management systems and web publishing.
- Basic HTML and Photoshop.
- Must be willing to work nights and weekends. Occasional travel may be required.
- Being open to feedback, direction and new approaches on how to cover a Major League Baseball Club is crucial.
