Gate Attendant – Customer Service & Access Control

Majestic Security is seeking (part-time) Customer-Service-Focused Gate Attendants to support a busy lumberyard in Hammond, Indiana. This role is perfect for retirees, friendly personalities, and anyone who enjoys interacting with customers in a steady, low-stress environment.

About the Role

As a Gate Attendant Guard, you are the first and last point of contact for customers picking up building materials. Your ability to communicate clearly, stay organized, and provide a positive experience is essential to the success of the yard’s daily operations.

Key Customer Service Responsibilities

· Greet customers warmly as they arrive with a smile on your face

· Provide clear directions for material pickup

· Answer basic questions and assist customers in a friendly, helpful manner

· Maintain a calm, professional presence at all times

· Deliver excellent service while representing Majestic Security

Operational Responsibilities

· Scan picking tickets in and out

· Verify materials before customers exit the yard

· Maintain accurate logs and documentation

· Communicate with yard staff when needed

· Ensure customers leave with the correct products

Basic knowledge of lumber/building materials is helpful (2x4s, drywall, plywood, insulation, tape measure reading), but a positive attitude and strong customer service skills are most important.

Shifts

· Primary Hiring: 6am–2pm (First Shift) Monday-Wednsday

· Fill-In Availability: 2pm-10pm (second shift)

· Weekend flexibility required

· Ability to fill in on other shifts when needed

· Gate House includes air conditioning and heat

Qualifications

· 21 years of age or older

· Valid driver’s license and reliable personal vehicle

• · Ability to pass a background check and drug screen
• · Professional, neat appearance

· Dependable, honest, and reachable by phone

· Customer service experience preferred

· Lumber/building material knowledge a plus
