Our Kitchen Assistants work in a fast-paced environment preparing and

serving nutritious meals to students to support student learning. The

Food Service department works school days only - no nights, weekends, or

holidays! This position works 4 hours per day (10am-2pm)

****A Day In The Life****

• Prepare healthy and appealing food
• Utilize sound sanitation standards to meet district, state, and
  
  

federal guidelines

• Serve food so that students and staff receive their food in a timely
  
  

and friendly manner

• Assist in tasks necessary for efficient functioning of the food
  
  

service program (washing dishes, scanning tickets, cleaning,

organizing)

• Track inventory and communicate with the manager
• Monitor temperatures of foods, dishwasher, etc ensuring HACCP
  
  

compliance

• Maintain confidentiality
• Performs other duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the
  
  

efficient and effective functioning of the food service program

• Perform deep cleaning/defrosting tasks
• Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance/punctuality as
  
  

required by the Board of Education policies and regulations

• Ability to work in a fast paced environment
• Basic math and computer skills
• Knowledge of state health regulations
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Food Safety Basics-State Department of Education
• Kitchen experience recommended
• Can spend the day standing (80%) and walking (20%), lifting,
  
  

carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and

crawling

• Fine finger dexterity used
  
  

****Environment****

• Each school has a commercial kitchen
• Temperatures vary from extremely hot to extremely cold (freezer)
• Can be noisy and crowded
