Duties
- Provide overnight care to postpartum mothers and newborns, ensuring safety and comfort throughout the night
- Assist with infant feeding routines, including breastfeeding support and bottle feeding guidance
- Monitor and assess the physical and emotional well-being of both mother and baby, responding promptly to any concerns
- Support mothers with basic postpartum needs such as diapering, soothing techniques, and sleep positioning
- Maintain detailed records of infant feedings, sleep patterns, and any health observations or concerns
- Educate parents on infant care practices, physiology, and anatomy relevant to newborn health
- Collaborate with healthcare providers or family members as needed to ensure comprehensive postpartum support
Requirements
- Proven experience as a postpartum doula or in a similar patient service role supporting new families
- Strong knowledge of physiology related to postpartum recovery and infant development
- Ability to perform patient assessment with sensitivity and professionalism during overnight shifts
- Familiarity with medical terminology relevant to postpartum care and newborn health
- Experience conducting intake assessments to understand family needs and preferences
- Solid understanding of anatomy related to maternal recovery and infant anatomy for safe caregiving practices
- Excellent communication skills to provide clear guidance and reassurance during overnight support
