SUMMARY: Operates a bus, van or other district vehicle to safely transport students and passengers along designated routes and schedules. During summer months, performs assigned maintenance duties to support district operations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Provide transportation to and from location in a safe and welfare manner.
- Preventive maintenance; inspects bus, van or other vehicle and checks gas, oil, and water before departure.
- Cleans and services vehicle with fuel, lubricants and accessories.
- Assist disabled passenger into and out of vehicle.
- Secure passengers’ wheelchairs to restraining devices to stabilize wheelchairs during trip.
- Enforce student discipline during routes.
- Perform daily school bus inspection.
- Complies with federal and state transportation regulations.

Education/Experience: Must have high school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience; CDL with S and P endorsements is required.
Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively communicate and present information.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to use and understand basic mathematical skills.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
