POSITION: MAINTENANCE I, CARPENTER
LOCATION: MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENT
SALARY RANGE: $21.16-$25.62 PER HOUR
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have a minimum of five (5) years experience in carpentry, cabinet making, and roofing.
- Must have knowledge of the installation and repairs of commercial door hardware, windows, flooring, ceilings, wall construction, roofing, concrete forming.
- Must have knowledge of building construction methods, materials, equipment, and be able to operate all hand and power tools required in the construction and/or repairs of commercial buildings and equipment.
- Must be able to interpret blueprints and specifications.
- Must be able to inspect, plan, and perform repair work on structures with minimal supervision.
- Must be able to accomplish specific assignments requiring skills in carpentry, painting, masonry, and welding; separately or combined.
- Must have a mechanical aptitude.
- Must be licensed to operate an automobile in the State of Maryland and be able to pass a DOT physical.
- Must be able to read, write, add and subtract in whole numbers, and calculate in fractions.
- Must possess all necessary hand tools for assigned work.
- Must be able to pass a physical as per MOSHA Regulations 29 CFR 1910.134-Respiratory Protection.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Perform work in carpentry, masonry, roofing, welding and other general building repairs as assigned.
- Analyzes work to be accomplished in repair and new construction.
- Interprets oral and written work orders.
- Calculate materials needed for specific jobs.
- Interprets and works from blueprints.
- Performs other necessary duties as assigned.
- May perform any or all the duties of lower grade maintenance employees as assigned.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to stand or walk for extended periods of time
- Must have dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a variety of specialized tools and equipment
- Must be able to reach overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally
- Must be able to lift 50 to 80 pounds
- Must be able to climb ladders, build and work from scaffolding, and work from areal lifts
- Must be able to work in confined spaces
- Must be able to work in hot and cold temperatures
