Junior Financial Analyst

Job Summary

The FP&A Junior Analyst is an early-career finance professional who will help transform financial and operational data into meaningful business insights. The position supports budgeting, forecasting, management reporting, and financial analysis while identifying opportunities to improve how Finance collects, analyzes, and communicates information.

The successful candidate will be analytically curious, comfortable asking questions, attentive to detail, and motivated to understand the business behind the numbers. The analyst will use Excel, Power Query, Power BI, artificial intelligence, and other emerging technologies to improve productivity and analytical quality while applying appropriate judgment, validation, and data-security practices. This role provides broad exposure to FP&A, operational finance, accounting, business partnership, continuous improvement, and finance transformation initiatives.

Job Responsibilities

• Support forecasting and budgeting processes by gathering and analyzing financial and operational data.
• Perform variance analysis across actual results, forecasts, and budgets, and clearly explain key business drivers.
• Ask thoughtful questions to understand the operational, commercial, and financial drivers of business performance.
• Translate financial analysis into concise conclusions, business implications, and recommended actions for financial and non-financial audiences.
• Maintain and enhance financial models and management reporting tools used to support decision-making.
• Perform recurring analysis of financial reports, including revenue, profitability, and expense results.
• Prepare and maintain KPI reporting that connects operational drivers to financial outcomes.
• Analyze trends, test assumptions, investigate unusual variances or data anomalies, and work with Accounting and Operations to resolve questions.
• Assist with capital expenditure tracking and performance analysis.
• Support bid pricing, labor rate, and burden analyses as needed.
• Collaborate with Accounting and Operations to ensure analyses are based on accurate, timely, and well-understood financial and operational data.
• Challenge existing reports and processes constructively by identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, usefulness, standardization, and decision support.
• Identify repetitive finance activities that can be automated, simplified, or standardized, and help improve reports, models, dashboards, and analytical tools using Excel, Power Query, Power BI, artificial intelligence, or other tools.
• Use artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies to support research, analysis, documentation, reporting, and communication activities in accordance with company policies.Validate the completeness, accuracy, and reasonableness of technology-assisted analysis before it is relied upon.
• Document assumptions, methodologies, calculations, data sources, and AI-assisted work to support transparency and reproducibility.
• Develop an understanding of company operations through interaction with business leaders and field personnel.
• Perform ad hoc analyses and special projects as assigned.
  
  

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related field.
• 0 to 2 years of financial analysis, accounting, internship, or related experience.
• Internship experience in Finance, Accounting, FP&A, Business Analytics, or a related discipline.
• Familiarity with Power BI, Power Query, SQL, ERP systems, automation tools, data visualization, or artificial intelligence.
• Strong critical-thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and basic financial modeling.
• Demonstrated interest in and practical ability to use artificial intelligence, including large language models, to improve research, analysis, documentation, and productivity. Candidates should be able to explain how they validate AI-assisted work and protect confidential information.
• Demonstrated interest in using technology to improve efficiency and decision-making.
• Ability to communicate analytical findings clearly to both financial and non-financial audiences.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
• Learning agility and willingness to learn financial concepts, forecasting methodologies, business operations, systems, and emerging technologies.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Ability to travel 10% to 15% of the year.
• Coursework or projects involving analytics, automation, visualization, artificial intelligence, data management, or financial modeling.
  
  

Annual salary range for candidates in Seattle, WA: $91,851 to $100,201
