Job Description
We are seeking dependable and caring Personal Support Specialists (PSSs) to join our PCA program. As a PSS, you will work directly with clients in their homes to provide personal care, household support, and companionship according to their individualized plan of care.
Responsibilities
- Activities of Daily Living (ADLs): Assist with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, mobility, and eating
- Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADLs): Provide help with light housekeeping, laundry, meal preparation, grocery shopping, running errands, and medication reminders (administering medications requires CRMA certification)
- Health Maintenance: Observe and report changes in client condition, take vital signs when instructed, and assist with health-related activities within scope of practice
- Documentation: Accurately record care provided, client progress, and any observations in compliance with state and agency standards
- Emotional Support: Offer companionship, encouragement, and foster a positive and supportive environment

Requirements
- Must be at least 17 years old
- High School Diploma or GED preferred
- Ability to pass a Maine Background Check Center (MBCC) clearance
- Cannot be listed on the Maine CNA/Direct Care Worker Registry with substantiated findings of abuse, neglect, or misappropriation of property
- Certification:
- Current PSS certification, or
- Must enroll in a PSS training program within 60 days of hire and complete certification within 8 months
- CNA (active or inactive) accepted
Compensation and Schedule
- Hourly pay: $17.00 – $21.00 depending on experience
- Flexible scheduling: shifts range from 2 to 40 hours per week
- Full-time and part-time positions available
- Supervision and ongoing training provided
- Advancement opportunities in health and human services (CRMA, CNA, CNA-M, LPN, Nursing, MHRT, DSP, etc.)
