All students have an assigned school social worker and are supported by Behavioral Health Professionals (BHP), Special Education Teachers, Occupational Therapists, and Speech Therapists.

MSS is seeking student-centered Special Education Teacher | Case Managerat the Pineview Learning Center (PLC) to work in small groups with K-6 students with diverse academic and functional needs in an ABA-based program. The student population at PLC includes learners with global and developmental delays, including level 2 and 3 autism.

Position: Special Education Teacher / Case Manager

Location: Monmouth, ME

Compensation: $55K-$60K Plus Excellent Benefits!

At Maine School Solutions, we provide individualized therapeutic support and educational services to students identified in special education with behavioral, social, and emotional needs that have not been successful in public school in grades K – 12 and need a more structured and supported environment with specially designed instruction. All students have an assigned school social worker and are supported by Behavioral Health Professionals (BHP), Special Education Teachers, Occupational Therapists, and Speech Therapists.

Requirements:

• Completed Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.
• Maine Department of Education 282 Special Education Certification Preferred, however licensed teachers and/or candidates who are eligible for conditional 282 licensure will also be considered.
• Valid Driver’s License and Clean Criminal Background Check.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Assist students in achieving academic success by providing our students regular guidance, mentoring, and support during class.
• Develop weekly lesson plans that may need to be individualized to student's current academic level and abilities.
• Provide direction and supervision to BHP's when needed.
• Participate as member of our education and treatment teams which facilitate individual counseling as well as group counseling and assessment when needed.
• Assist with managing classroom behavior in accordance with student IEP's by enforcing rules and procedures.
• Demonstrate and maintain professional boundaries with students at all times.
• The school follows a traditional schedule which includes a modified eight-week summer schedule.
• Perform as a case manager with a caseload of 6-12 students which includes writing IEP's, developing goals, and attending IEP meetings.
• Assist BHP's with de-escalating students when needed.
• Create a safe, welcoming, and nurturing learning environment.
