Early Childhood Special Education Coordinator - starting July 1
MSAD 6 is seeking a dynamic leader to serve as our Coordinator for special education services
for approximately 130 children who are ages 3 and 4. This position will provide leadership and
consultation to general and special educators and administrators in our schools, in Community
Partner sites, and other early childhood settings within our district towns; supervise and evaluate
special education staff; lead the assessment and transition processes; ensure legal compliance.
design and lead professional development; and foster strong instructional skills in a play-based
learning environment. This is a 215-day contract.
Applicants for this position must have a master's degree, Maine State Certification preferably a
#030 or #035 (those certified as an #040 or #045 will be considered); 5 or more years of
experience with children in pre-school or early elementary school; and 5 or more years
experience in special education or school leadership / administration. Preference to applicants
with evidence of a desire to work with early learners, a strong understanding of typical and
atypical child development, and knowledge of the CDS system.
