Maine School Administrative District No. 27 serves 840 students in grades PreK-12 from St. Francis, St. John Plantation, Wallagrass, New Canada and Fort Kent, ME, location of America's First Mile. The district has three (3) schools, the Fort Kent Elementary School(PreK-5), Valley Rivers Middle School (6-8), and Fort Kent Community High School (9-12).

Position Function
To serve as acting school nurse while the current full time nurse may be out. This position has no set schedule, no set number of hours, and is on a completely as-needed basis.
Functions
- Provide urgent, episodic care to students and/or staff, including band-aids or ice packs to patients with cuts, scrapes, and bruises.
- Assess the severity of illness or injury in students and/or staff
- Assist school personnel in caring for pupils who are injured or becom ill at school.
- Distribute medications
- Care for students with chronic conditions
- Assist in preventing & controlling the spread of communicable diseases
- Provide mental health support to students in need.
Qualifications
- Registered Nurse
- Current license to practice in Maine
- Maine Department of Education CHRC clearance
