Oven Builder Apprentice (Full-Time)
Maine Oven Craft – Skowhegan, ME
Maine Oven Craft builds wood-fired ovens for people who care about food, fire, and craft. We’re a small, skilled shop, and we hire carefully.
We’re looking for a full-time Oven Builder Apprentice with a real passion for making things and an interest in learning a hands-on trade the right way. This is not a helper role. It’s a working position with responsibility from the start.
About the Work
This is physical, hands-on work. Some days are satisfying and visible. Others are repetitive, dirty, and tiring. All of it matters.
When we hire and train someone, it’s a real investment. We’re looking for someone whose interest in this work goes beyond the job title and into a genuine desire to learn, contribute, and improve.
Responsibilities
- Masonry assembly, preparation, and layout
- Accurate measuring and daily use of basic math
- Use of hand and power tools
- Welding, grinding, and metal forming (training provided)
- Carpentry work for crates and templates
- Packing finished ovens and preparing shipments
- General shop and fabrication work

We’re specifically looking for someone who is currently employed and accustomed to showing up consistently and contributing fully.
Work Environment
- Full-time, on-site position
- Small, close-working, skilled team
- Physically demanding shop environment
- Shop dog / workplace dog present
- No tolerance for drama, poor habits, or unreliable behavior
