What are the responsibilities and job description for the Loss Control Consultant position at Maine Municipal Association?
The Maine Municipal Association (MMA) Risk Management Services is seeking a motivated professional to join our Loss Control Department as a Loss Control Consultant.
Our consultants partner with Maine municipalities to identify risks, improve workplace safety, protect public assets, and reduce losses through education, training, and risk management consulting.
This home-based position offers the opportunity to work independently while serving municipalities throughout Maine. Consultants manage their own schedules, conduct on-site risk assessments, provide training, evaluate facilities and safety programs, complete property valuations, and develop practical recommendations that help members reduce risk. Frequent statewide travel, with occasional overnight travel, is required.
Qualifications
Qualified candidates should have:
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Experience in occupational safety, risk management, insurance, municipal government, commercial construction, fire service, or a related field.
- Knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, MUBEC, or other applicable safety standards.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other web-based applications.
- The ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and build strong relationships with members.
- A valid driver's license and the ability to travel throughout Maine.
