Trust Operations Associate

The Trust Operations Associate will work closely with the Trust Officer and support the day-to-day administration and operational oversight of trust accounts. The ideal candidate will have an understanding of banking and financial concepts, strong organizational skills, excellent attention to detail, and an interest in developing a career in trust administration.
What You’ll Do
- Process and accurately post daily trust account transactions, including trades, receipts, expenses, distributions, and other activity.
- Prepare and review daily cash activity reports.
- Produce, analyze, and review various trust accounting reports.
- Perform daily account reconciliations and research and resolve discrepancies.
- Monitor trust account cash balances to ensure sufficient funds are available for beneficiary distributions, fiduciary fees, trust expenses, and other obligations.
- Review transaction and payment codes for accuracy and proper processing.
- Coordinate the opening and closing of trust accounts.
- Assist with regulatory and compliance-related account reviews.
- Assist with quarterly administrative reviews of trust accounts.
- Review trust documents and account files to ensure proper administration and compliance.
- Communicate regularly with attorneys, accountants, internal colleagues, and others as needed.
- Respond to questions regarding the administration and maintenance of trust accounts.
- Handle incoming telephone calls and correspondence professionally.
- Process incoming and outgoing mail.
- Identify potential issues proactively and work with the team to develop effective solutions.
- Provide general administrative and operational support to the Trust Department.
What We’re Looking For

Preferred qualifications include:
- Bachelor’s degree or at least three years of experience in Trust Administration.
- Experience with trust accounting systems, preferably FIS/Charlotte.
- Trust Certificate and/or CTFA designation is a plus.
- Experience with trust accounting, financial operations, and account reconciliations.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. Strong computer and general PC skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to analyze information, identify discrepancies, and resolve issues.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities while meeting deadlines.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong sense of accountability, professionalism, and follow-through.
- Ability to anticipate needs and take initiative rather than waiting to be asked.
- Comfortable working with confidential financial and client information.
