Job Description
The Staff Accountant will prepare and maintain financial records to track the company's assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities and other related financial activities within the Accounting Department.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform general cost accounting and other related duties for the organization.
- Prepare monthly balance sheets, income statements and profit and loss statements in collaboration with the Controller and other personnel within the accounting department.
- Maintain the general ledger; update and maintain fixed assets sub-ledger, Equipment/Fleet and other costed elements.
- Sales/Use tax maintenance and filings.
- Ad-hoc report preparation, job cost and cost accounting analysis.
- Codes invoices, sets up new accounts, reconciles accounts and assists in closing monthly books.
- Reconciles bank accounts monthly, verifies deposits and addresses inquiries from banking institutions.
- Reconciles cash disbursement accounts, payroll, customer accounts.
- May provide outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform annual review.
- May provides assistance in filing tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies.
Requirements
- X years of experience as a Staff Accountant or similar role in mid-sized or greater companies ($200M or more).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications and related accounting software.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to maintain confidential and meticulous records.
- Ability to perform primary work in an indoor, office locale in concert with other team members in similar proximity.
