Human Diversity ADJUNCT FACULTY

Midcoast Campus - Brunswick

CLASSES BEGIN FALL 2026

  

 

 

Description of Courses: This course examines the rich complexity of human identity and the social dynamics that shape our differences. Students explore how factors such as race, ethnicity, culture, gender, class, age, sexual orientation, religion, and ability influence individual experience, group membership, and institutional systems.

 

 

In-person at SMCC’s Midcoast Campus in Brunswick during the Fall 2026 semester.

Class meets on Wednesdays from 11:00 AM to 12:15 PM.

 

 

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Human Services, Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Sociology, Education, Cultural Studies, or a related field
  • Professional experience in human services, social work, education, counseling, community-based work, diversity and inclusion, or a closely related field
  • Demonstrated ability to support respectful, inclusive, and student-centered learning environments

 

 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • College-level teaching experience
  • Experience teaching or facilitating discussions related to diversity, equity, inclusion, cultural humility, anti-oppressive practice, or intercultural communication
  • Professional experience working with diverse populations in human services, behavioral health, social work, education, advocacy, or community settings
  • Familiarity with culturally responsive teaching practices and reflective learning activities
  • Experience using Brightspace or another learning management system
