What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Crew Member position at Maine Cap N' Stem Mushroom Co.?
Maine Cap N’ Stem Mushroom Co. is accepting applications for a hard-working and reliable production worker in our Gardiner, Maine facility. As part of our production crew you will help to ensure our customer’s needs are met on time and at the highest quality. You will need to be punctual, able to work effectively as part of our team, be committed to safety, and able to perform the physical tasks required. The ideal candidate will also be able to operate a forklift- experience is great but we are willing to train the right person.
This current open position will participate in both our mix and packing crews, and will be trained to participate inside of our clean lab for substrate block inoculation.

Our ideal candidates will have:

Production crew tasks may include, but are not limited to:
Mix Participation
· Dispensing substrate into bags using our automated baggers
· Folding and racking substrate bags properly for effective pasteurization/sterilization
· Following established cleaning protocol at the end of each mix day
· Keeping accurate mix records
Packing Participation
· Correctly interpret the customers digital pick sheet and the use of our digital product inventory system
· Becoming familiar with desired quality of substrate blocks, and becoming comfortable making decision regarding what is acceptable for shipping
· Packing substrate blocks into boxes, including labeling lot codes outside of box
· Stacking 50lb boxes onto a pallet, often-times over shoulder or head height
· Preparing stacked pallet for shipping, including placing shipping labels
Shipping/Pallet Loading
· Assisting as needed with loading and unloading packed pallets into or out of refrigerated units or trucks, using a pallet jack and/or forklift
Lab Participation
· Following the very specific cleanliness protocols is most important in our sterile lab environment (face mask, gloves, sanitizers, etc)
· Dispensing a pre-determined amount of spawn into sterilized substrate bags
· Sealing bags with a band-sealer post-inoculation
· Following established cleaning protocol at the end of each lab session
Inoculation Participation Outside of Lab
· Affixing accurate lot code labels onto each substrate block
· Manipulating 10lb bag to effectively distribute grain spawn throughout the substrate
· Shelving inoculated blocks correctly in accordance to digital inventory schematic
General Cleaning/ Other tasks as assigned
