Duties
- Assist dentists during a variety of procedures including restorative, prosthodontics, endodontics, oral surgery, and pediatric dentistry with precision and confidence.
- Perform expanded functions such as coronal polishing, temporary restorations, and other delegated clinical tasks following state regulations and practice protocols.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays), including digital imaging and 3D scans, ensuring proper technique and patient comfort.
- Prepare treatment areas by sterilizing and organizing dental instruments and equipment in accordance with infection prevention management policies.
- Manage patient records using electronic medical record (EMR) system-Open Dental; document treatment details accurately while maintaining clinical confidentiality policies.
- Monitor vital signs and medical history updates to ensure patient safety before procedures.
- Support patient management by providing clear instructions, answering questions about procedures, and ensuring a positive experience from check-in to check-out.
Skills
- Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including four-handed dentistry, chairside assisting, and aseptic technique.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to dentistry.
- Experience with dental equipment operation, sterilization procedures, and infection control standards aligned with healthcare infection prevention protocols.
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Open Dental for efficient medical documentation and records management.
- Ability to perform dental instrument processing swiftly while adhering to strict sterilization guidelines.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members including dental receptionists and other healthcare professionals.
