Position Summary:
Main Street Auto is seeking a Senior Accounting Manager to join our team! This individual will be a key contributor in a fast-paced and highly acquisitive business. They will oversee the monthly closing process, manage a small team, and drive process improvements across the accounting function of the business.
The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in general ledger accounting, experience in managing people, and the ability to operate both strategically and hands-on in a fast-paced environment. This role will report directly into the Controller and will work very closely with organizational leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close process to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting
- Oversee general ledger activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis
- Manage and develop a team of accounting professionals
- Review and approve financial statements and supporting schedules
- Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and internal accounting policies
- Partner cross-functionally with FP&A, operations, and other departments to support business initiatives
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and strengthen controls
- Assist with external audits and coordinate with auditors as needed
- Support ad hoc projects, system implementations, and process optimization initiatives
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 8 years of progressive accounting experience
- Prior experience managing or mentoring staff
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP
- CPA preferred but not required
- Advanced Excel skills
