Summer - Mental Health & Wellness Associate

OVERVIEW: 

The Mental Health and Wellness Associate supports camper and staff well-being by working closely with the Nurse in the Health Care Center. Responsibilities include distributing medications, providing basic first aid, identifying mental health concerns, assisting with camper behavior support, and promoting overall wellness throughout camp.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assist with camper and staff intake and medication distribution as directed by the Nurse
• Provide basic first aid and supervise individuals in the Health Care Center
• Document all care provided in medical records and logbooks
• Support camper and staff mental wellness by identifying concerns, offering self-regulation strategies, and facilitating quiet spaces
• Collaborate with the Nurse and senior leadership to address mental health needs and develop action plans
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the Health Care Center and personal living quarters
• Participate in camp programs, meetings, devotionals, and supervise assigned free-time areas
• Build relationships with campers and staff to foster a supportive, Christ-centered camp experience
• Model Christ-like behavior in conduct and service
• Report suspected child abuse immediately to the Assistant Camp Director
• Assist with camp-wide cleanup, opening/closing day procedures
• Other related duties as required

All staff may be called upon at any time to assist in the total operation of the camp. You are expected to join in all evening programs; absences are excused only through the Assistant Camp Director.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Current CPR/First Aid/AED (required)
• Minimum 21 years of age (preferred)
• Camping experience either as a camper or staff (preferred)
• Current enrollment in college level program focused in medicine, social services or mental health care

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• General skills working with children (required)

EQUIPMENT USED: 

• Modern Office Equipment and Relevant Software

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
• Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis
• Ability to grasp, push and pull objects and tools
