Esperanza Cyber Charter School Mission

Esperanza Cyber Charter School (ECCS) prepares students in grades three through twelve to meet the challenges of living creatively and productively in an increasingly technologically sophisticated and interconnected world. ECCS will provide students with an academically rigorous, yet flexible, online learning program that tailors learning experiences to each child through a combination of curriculum choices and virtual and in-person tutoring and counseling. Students will explore career directions that coincide with their interests and strengths beginning at the earliest ages, and will begin “majors” in particular career areas starting with the middle grades. ECCS is targeted toward underserved and at-risk students who have not always found success in traditional schools. ECCS places students on a pathway to post-secondary success.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred
• Highly qualified and certified to teach Physical Education 

• Valid, active PA Instructional Certification in Health & Physical Education OR Valid, active out-of-state certification in Health/Physical Education with the ability to transfer to PA

• Strong technology skills (especially with Microsoft OS, MS Office programs, and Unified Classroom )

• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assume personal responsibility for the academic progress of all students
• Implement a coherent, research-based curriculum
• Document all lesson plans, assignments, rubrics, and other instructional materials and methods
• Use consistent school-wide practices and individualized methods to engage students in the classroom
• Virtual classroom management by creating, monitoring, and sustaining a disciplined school culture of high academic and behavioral standards
• Provide virtual structure in the classroom by developing and reinforcing school-wide rules and expectations
• Ensure smooth operation of all virtual classroom instructional functions without excuses or exceptions

SKILLS:

• Develop and use a variety of assessment data to refine curricula and instructional practice
• Evaluate academic achievement through detailed data analysis of student performance
• Communicate effectively and maintain strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues
• Develop and maintain a positive, strong virtual classroom culture
