The Corporate Controller position is a critical leadership role responsible for driving financial discipline, accuracy, and scalability across a complex, multi-entity organization. This role offers significant ownership over the accounting function, team development, and financial reporting, with the opportunity to grow into broader executive leadership over time.
Responsibilities
Financial Accounting & Close
- Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close across multiple legal entities
- Ensure accurate, GAAP-compliant financial statements with clear, supportable documentation
- Maintain tax-basis and management-use financial reporting
- Lead balance sheet integrity, including reconciliations, roll-forwards, reserves, and equity
- Drive discipline and consistency across journal entries, accruals, and cutoff processes
Consolidations & Multi-Entity Accounting
- Oversee intercompany accounting, eliminations, and consolidation/combination processes
- Maintain ownership structures, equity accounts, and capital activity
- Partner with the CFO on entity design, restructuring, and scalability initiatives
Controls, Process & Systems
- Build and refine internal controls, policies, and close processes
- Continuously improve workflows to support growth, speed, and accuracy
- Partner with FP&A, Treasury, and Operations to ensure clean, reliable data flow
- Leverage ERP and reporting tools to enhance visibility and reduce friction
Team Leadership
- Lead, develop, and hold accountable a growing accounting team
- Coach managers and senior accountants while maintaining high performance standards
- Set clear expectations and elevate the team’s technical and operational capabilities
- External Stakeholder Management
- Serve as the primary accounting lead for:
- External CPAs and tax advisors
- Lenders and financial partners
- Auditors (current or future)
- Ensure seamless coordination across accounting, tax, and reporting functions
Qualifications
- 8–12 years of progressive accounting experience
- Public accounting experience strongly preferred
- CPA preferred (or equivalent experience)
- Experience operating in complex, multi-entity environments
- Industry background flexible; enterprise mindset required
- Technical & Leadership Capabilities
- Strong command of GAAP and financial accounting fundamentals
- Deep balance sheet expertise (not just P&L focus)
- Experience with equity, intercompany, and consolidation accounting
- Ability to identify and solve issues before they surface in reporting
