A growing safety training, consulting, and equipment management company is seeking a detail-oriented Part-Time Accountant to support day-to-day financial operations in Owings Mills. The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, and comfortable managing a broad range of accounting and bookkeeping responsibilities in a fast-paced small business environment.
Position Summary
The Part-Time Accountant will support core accounting functions including accounts payable and receivable, reconciliations, invoicing, payroll support, budgeting, and financial reporting. This individual will work closely with leadership to help maintain accurate financial records and ensure smooth day-to-day financial operations.
This is a flexible, hands-on role ideal for someone who enjoys variety and thrives in a collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Operations & Reporting
- Process invoices and maintain accurate accounting records
- Reconcile bank accounts and credit card statements
- Assist with monthly and year-end financial reporting
- Prepare budget-to-actual variance analyses
- Support budgeting and forecasting activities
Accounts Payable & Receivable
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
- Follow up on outstanding invoices and assist with collections
- Set up new customer accounts and maintain account records
- Coordinate vendor onboarding and maintain vendor documentation
- Process customer credits and refunds as needed
Payroll & Benefits Support
- Assist with payroll processing and employee expense reporting
- Support reconciliation of employee benefits and retirement contributions
Compliance & Administrative Support
- Help maintain compliance with accounting procedures and documentation requirements
- Coordinate with external CPA firms for tax preparation and 1099 processing
- Maintain W-9 records for vendors and contractors
- Support annual business filings, license renewals, and insurance renewals
Qualifications
- Previous accounting, bookkeeping, or finance support experience preferred
- Proficiency with QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities independently
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
- Comfortable working in a small business environment with evolving priorities
