Description:

Main is hiring for full-time 3rd Class Marine Carpenters.
The 3rd Class Marine Carpenter is an entry-level skilled trades position responsible for assisting in the construction, repair, and installation of basic access and support structures aboard vessels and in the shipyard. This role requires fundamental carpentry skills, the ability to safely use hand and power tools, and the ability to accurately measure, cut, and assemble materials.

Required Experience & Qualifications:
- Six months experience of carpentry, construction, or related experience (shipyard experience preferred but not required).
- Assist in building and installing simple support and access structures (e.g., temporary enclosures, decking, support, staging access, basic framing such as a "doghouse" structure).
- Measure, cut, and assemble wood and other materials using hand tools and power tools safely.
- Ability to use a level and ensure plumb/straight construction.
- Basic understanding of carpentry principles (cutting, fastening, framing).
- Read and follow basic drawings, sketches, and work instructions.
- Use measuring tools (tape measure, square, level) to ensure accuracy and proper alignment.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment in accordance with shipyard safety standards.
- Work alongside higher-level carpenters and supervisors to complete assigned tasks.
- Handle material movement, staging, and preparation as needed.
- Physically able to lift 40-50lbs, climb, bend, and work in confined or highly elevated spaces. Comfortable working in varying weather conditions, exposure to noice, and industrial hazards.
- Safety-conscious mindset
No overtime is guaranteed, but some projects do require overtime. This could be more than 40 hours during the normal Monday- Friday work week, work on the weekends or both. Some projects do have a night shift. You will be expected to be at work on all days/nights assigned.
