Position Title: STEM Teacher Grades 6-8

Start Date: 2025-26 School Year

Salary: Salary and benefits are part of the Teacher Master Agreement. The position is full-time and part of the teacher bargaining unit. The position will be serving students at Mahtomedi Middle School, grades 6-8.

Minimum Requirements

Must have a valid MN teaching license: Science 5-8, or able to obtain the appropriate license from PELSB, Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board.

Qualifications

• Background in STEM Education, hands-on learning, and building authentic units of study based in inquiry
• Experience with innovative fabrication-based learning environments (e.g. 3D printers, laser cutters, CNC machines and design software)
• Thorough knowledge of the principles and methodology of effective teaching
• Strong knowledge of middle school science curriculum and standards
• Collaborative team member of a Professional Learning Community, striving to implement best practices for instruction and assessment
• Seeks opportunities to improve their practice through coaching feedback and ongoing reflectionContributes positively to the middle school team of adults who work closely to create a positive and productive student learning experience
• Proven leadership skills and the ability to build effective relationships with colleagues, students and parents
• Excellent communication skills: ability to communicate thoughts and ideas with accuracy and clarity, ability to communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding student progress, student goals and abilities and overall experience in their classroom
  
  

Responsibilities

• Identify the needs of students through formal and informal assessments
• Plan, develop and implement appropriate lessons to ensure the achievement of student growth
• Communicate with students, parents and staff on regular basis on student progress and work in collaboration for positive student outcomes
• Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use information to adjust teaching strategies. Use of data for progress monitoring and tracking.
• Update all necessary records accurately as required by laws, district policies and school regulations
• Attend department, school and parent meetings or functions
• Other job-related duties as assigned
