Mahoning Valley Farm is a privately owned race training horse farm seeking a dependable and hardworking Farm Hand / Equipment Operator to assist with daily property maintenance, track upkeep, and equipment operation.
This is a hands-on outdoor position best suited for someone with farm, agricultural, landscaping, or heavy equipment experience who is comfortable performing physically demanding work in a farm environment around horses.
The right candidate will help maintain the farm grounds, horse training track, and equipment to keep the property safe and operating smoothly.
Applicants with farm, landscaping, construction equipment, or agricultural experience are strongly encouraged to apply.
- Do you have experience operating tractors, skid steers, or other farm equipment?
- Are you comfortable performing daily manure cleanup, hauling, and disposal?
- Have you previously worked on a farm, ranch, or agricultural property?
- Are you comfortable working around horses?
- Do you have a valid driver’s license?
ResponsibilitiesEquipment Operation
- Operate farm equipment including tractors, skid steers, ATVs, water trucks, and track harrows
- Maintain and groom horse training and exercise tracks
- Assist with hauling materials, moving equipment, and farm maintenance projects
Property & Grounds Maintenance
- Perform mowing, weed trimming, and general groundskeeping
- Assist with fence, gate, and barn repairs
- Maintain safe and clean working areas throughout the property
- Install and maintain fly traps and pest control measures
Daily Farm Tasks
- Daily manure cleanup
- Loading, hauling, dumping, and spreading manure
- Operating equipment used for manure removal and disposal
- Assisting with general farm upkeep and seasonal tasks
This is a working horse farm and daily manure handling is a required part of the job.
Preferred Experience
- Previous farm, ranch, horse farm, or agricultural work experience
- Experience operating tractors, skid steers, or similar heavy equipment
- Familiarity with property maintenance or groundskeeping
- Basic knowledge of equipment maintenance and minor mechanical repairs
- Experience working around horses or livestock is a plus
Requirements
- Ability to lift 50 lbs
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
- Must be reliable, hardworking, and able to work independently
- Comfortable working around horses and heavy equipment
- Valid driver's license required
Applicants without farm or equipment experience may not be considered.
Additional Information
- This is a working race training horse farm
- No pets or visitors permitted on the property for safety reasons
- 1099 independent contractor position
- Must be dependable and able to follow farm safety procedures
