Responsibilities:
The Deputy Dog Warden enforces state animal ordinances pertaining to license registration, current rabies vaccinations, and patrols the County for stray and vicious dogs. Incumbent is responsible for handling and caring for the dogs housed in the kennels by feeding animals according to schedule and feeding instructions, providing clean water daily; cleaning, sanitizing and maintenance of the complex and transport vans; investigate animal claims and dog bites in conjunction with the Mahoning County Health Department; work with law enforcement, complete and file reports and forms, issue citations and/or warnings for violations; testify in court as requested and other duties as assigned. The Deputy Dog Warden will assist with euthanasia and transport deceased dogs for proper disposal or burial. Subject to 24-hour call-back/stand-by as assigned to address emergency situations and may be required to work nights, weekends and holidays to cover shifts.
Qualifications:
High School diploma or G.E.D., along with a minimum of three (3) years of experience in animal control, law enforcement or veterinary background. Possession of a valid Driver’s License and an acceptable driving record.
