Position Title: Summer Enrichment Camp Aide
Immediate Supervisor: Summer Enrichment Camp Director
Working Hours: M-TH, 8:30am – 2:30 pm
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Help the counselor to maintain a safe, friendly, environment conducive to learning and fun.
Follow the counselor’s direction to follow behavior programs consistent with the objectives of
the IEP. Assist with behaviors.
2. Deliver small group lessons prepared by counselor.
3. Help to create materials for activities that support themed lessons.
4. Assist with the operation of equipment, individual schedules, and communication devices.
5. Assist the swim instructor in maintaining the health and safety of every child in the pool area.
Assist with dressing and assure the consistency of rules. (Swim as needed)
6. Assist in all aspects of personal care that includes, but is not limited to, positioning, feeding,
toileting, and clean up of individual that may include food spills, incontinence, vomitus and
blood spills. Utilize universal precautions procedures.
7. Assist with mobility which includes walking, operation of a wheelchair, transfer of individuals
from various items of furniture or toilet fixtures, bus loading and unloading.
8. Assist in maintaining clean personal space for individuals served by such actions as wiping
wheelchair trays clean, ensuring clean work surfaces, etc.
9. Perform services in a manner that demonstrates respect for the individual and their needs, wants
and preferences utilizing individualized and appropriate strategies and techniques.
10. Maintain accurately all records required by statute, rule or position relative to personal care and
mobility assistance performed as part of job tasks.
11. Demonstrate regular and predictable attendance.
12. Work with individuals on goals and maintain accurate data.
OTHER FUNCTIONS
- Shall be available for and attend scheduled meetings and training sessions.
- Adhere to all MCBDD policies and procedures.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- May be exposed to infectious disease.
- May work with individuals with behavioral disabilities who display aberrant behaviors.
REQUIREMENTS
- Prefer Bachelors in related field or 3 years of experience.
- Currently hold or willing to obtain certification in CPR and First Aid.
- Possess or acquire knowledge of:
- Universal precautions for infectious disease.
- MCBDD policies and procedures.
- Recognition and reporting of abuse and neglect.
- Recognition and management of communicable diseases.
- Client Bill of Rights.
- Proper lifting techniques.
- Fire suppression.
- Currently hold or willing to obtain training in behavior management techniques or current board required assault prevention and intervention techniques.
- Possess effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Maintain valid driver’s license in state of residence.
- BCI background clearance.
- Any other training as required by county board policy.
- Familiar with IEP process and data/record keeping.
- Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working environment.
- Ability to engage others with understanding and empathy.
