Under the immediate supervision of the Supervisor of Buildings, and administrative direction of the Facilities Director, the Custodian maintains a clean working environment for all staff and visitors by performing standard janitorial and grounds maintenance duties.

Key Responsibilities
- Gather and empty wastebaskets, change liners, in all offices and work areas, and remove trash.
- Clean and supply rest rooms with towels, soap and toilet paper.
- Dust furniture and windowsills.
- Clean and polish woodwork, brass, marble, doorplates, furniture and other fixtures.
- Floor maintenance, including clean, sweep and mop floors; clean carpets, vacuum and spot clean; using dust mops, wet mops and vacuum cleaner.
- Clean and disinfect water fountains and/or water coolers.
- Move furniture, with or without assistance.
- Wash building windows, mirrors and elevator doors and panels.
- Sweep and clean building sidewalks and walkways using brooms or shovels.
- Remove snow from sidewalks and walkways; spread snow melting salt and chemicals.
- Empty outside trash and cigarette receptacles.
- Maintain work areas, supplies and equipment in a clean, orderly and proper manner; notify management of low inventory levels.
- Attend in-service training and educational sessions as assigned.
· Report malfunctioning equipment, lights or plumbing.
· Clean publicly used countertops and reception counters.
· Lock and unlock assigned buildings or offices; secure building when facilities are not in use checking for unlocked doors and windows; report any unauthorized occupants; turn off lights.
· Attend to cleaning emergencies when necessary.
· Safely operate all job related equipment.
- Perform additional duties and assignments as requested.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- Previous experience in custodial or housekeeping work preferred but not required.
- Possession of a valid Driver’s License.
