SUMMARY

The Logistics Supervisor coordinates activities of employees engaged in managing and planning of all suppliers incoming material, planning production and Customer Contact Management. Determines shipping priorities, manage right inventories levels for components and define shipping methods required to meet to meet 100% on time delivery. Assists with SAP knowledge development within Logistics groups and training of local Key users

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Recommends improvements in Supply Chain/Planning and Customer Contact methods, operating procedures and systems.
  • Developing excellent relationships with suppliers and customers and communicating about any issues or concerns that arise
  • Updating and evaluating Logistics metrics to assess performance and implement enhancements related to components supply, inventory management, Customer requirements and production planning
  • Manages the supply chain and component inventories at optimal levels to support production schedules.
  • Examines processes as it relates to Logistics functions (customer management, supply chain, and returnable container handling) and assist with evaluation and implementation of continuous improvement for the areas.
  • Daily interaction with production supervisors and involvement with production issues and concerns to help achieve 100% customer delivery.
  • Assist with root cause analysis and countermeasure implementation related to supply of components, inventory levels and customer contact activities.
  • Supervise Logistics Supply Chain, Planning and Customer Service to ensure the logistics department as a whole has processes and procedures that help to meet or exceed company targets and objectives
  • Other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • This position supervises Supply Order Management, Customer Service and Production Planner (Master Scheduler) functions and personnel.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year college or university or equivalent experience, preferably in the automotive industry
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience working in Logistics (Supply Chain/Customer Service/Production Planning) or a Logistics support function (Supply Chain and Customer Service areas preferred)
  • Good Experience with SAP it’s a must (required)
  • Ability to work in teams and independently
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Good oral and written English skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Experience Supervising Salary Personnel
  • Experience traveling internationally (desired)

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Must be fluent in English. Able to write routine reports and correspondence. Able to communicate effectively with peers, managers, and directors, and to present to groups of customers or employees of the organization. Values and considers the perspectives and backgrounds of all parties.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to apply advanced mathematics as typically taught during a four-year college or university course.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete or abstract variables in standard and non-standard situations. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret and explain policies and procedures.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly organized and possess good decision-making and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent attendance record.
  • Ability to multi-task and exhibit attention to detail.
  • Knowledge and experience with SAP it’s a must.
  • Root cause analysis and problem-solving skills (5 WHY).

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear, up to 98% of the day. The employee frequently is required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The environment will vary in this position based on assignments. When working in the office, environment noise is generally minimal.

The environment in manufacturing plants and testing labs are often loud, hot, and with particulates in the air. Working environment may contain potentially hazardous materials such as acids, solvents, oils, and common etchants. In such environments, adherence to PPE regulations is required.

OVERTIME

Employees must be able to work additional hours and/or additional days during the payroll week, which can and will be in excess of forty (40) hours per payroll week. Working overtime is a condition of employment.

TRAVEL

Domestic/international travel with/without overnight stay may be required.
