Build and lead Maharishi International University (MIU)'s men's volleyball program from the ground up as founding Head Coach. Job Responsibilities:
Program Building & Strategic Vision
- Design and implement comprehensive program development plan including recruiting strategy, system philosophy, training methodology, and culture-building
- Establish program identity, values, and standards aligned with MIU's mission and the Pioneer framework
- Develop operational systems for roster management, match scheduling, budget management, and program administration.
- Serve as primary spokesperson and ambassador for MIU men's volleyball to recruits, families, donors, and stakeholders.
- Build relationships with local volleyball community and establish training partnerships as needed
Recruitment & Talent Acquisition (Primary Emphasis)
- Develop and execute recruiting strategies targeting domestic and international student-athletes
- Leverage existing networks and build relationships with club directors, high school coaches, and recruiting service providers
- Attend club tournaments, AAU events, showcases, and recruiting events throughout the year
- Manage all recruiting communications with hundreds of prospective student-athletes across multiple platforms
- Build and maintain detailed recruiting databases tracking prospects, positions, communications, and commitment timelines
Coaching & Player Development
- Design training programs developing technical skills, tactical understanding, physical athleticism, and mental resilience across the Four Levels of Performance (Spiritual, Emotional, Mental, Physical)
- Integrate CBS principles and Transcendental Meditation practice into daily training, emphasizing the "inside-out" approach to peak performance
- Develop individualized player development plans addressing position-specific skills, volleyball IQ, and physical development
- Foster team culture grounded in Pioneer identity: connection to Self, emotional empowerment, complete approach to performance, and collective excellence
- Mentor student-athletes on academic success, personal development, and holistic well-being beyond volleyball
- Implement volleyball-specific strength and conditioning protocols and coordinate with athletic training staff
Team Operations & Competition Management
- Schedule competitive matches and coordinate all logistics for practices, home matches, and travel
- Develop match-day operations protocols including warm-ups, substitution patterns, timeout strategy, and in-game adjustments
- Manage team budget for equipment, travel, tournament fees, and operational costs
- Ensure full compliance with NAIA regulations, university policies, and athletic department

- Oversee match operations including scorekeeping, officiating coordination, and livestreaming logistics
- Manage equipment needs including balls, nets, training devices, and team uniforms
Consciousness-Based Sports Integration
- Participate in CBS training workshops to master the methodology and Four Levels of Performance framework
- Create environments facilitating athletes' access to peak performance states ("zone" and "flow") through CBS techniques
- Serve as ambassador for CBS methodology, articulating its value to recruits, families, and external audiences
Professional Development & Collaboration
- Attend CBS Athletics Department meetings, coaching education sessions, and NAIA/conference development opportunities
- Represent MIU at coaching clinics, conferences, and USA Volleyball events to build networks and enhance visibility
- Collaborate with other coaches and athletic staff to support program growth and strengthen the athletic
- Participate in donor engagement and fundraising initiatives to support program sustainability
Stay current with volleyball trends, training methodologies, and competitive innovations
Minimum Qualifications:
- Demonstrated success coaching volleyball at the collegiate, club, or elite high school level
- Proven track record recruiting talented student-athletes with strong industry references
- Established relationships with high school coaches, club directors, and volleyball community leaders across multiple regions
- Deep understanding of volleyball systems, rotations, training methodology, and player
- development
- Superior communication skills for recruiting, mentorship, and program representation
- Availability for irregular hours including evenings, weekends, and extensive recruiting travel
- Ability to manage multiple priorities with limited support staff in a startup environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Collegiate head coaching or associate head coaching experience, particularly in startup/rebuilding programs
- Experience as a high school and collegiate volleyball athlete
- NAIA/NCAA compliance knowledge and understanding of eligibility requirements
- Extensive recruiting networks in volleyball-strong regions (California, Illinois, Hawaii, Midwest, Texas) or international experience (particularly Brazil, Europe, Asia)
- Experience with mental training, sports psychology, or holistic performance methodologies
- Understanding of volleyball analytics, video analysis, and modern training technologies
- Comfort with digital platforms, social media, and modern recruiting technologies
- Prior experience launching programs or initiatives in resource-constrained environments
